Girly Sue with Braided Hair

Wenn ihr ab und zu auf Sue Loves NYC vorbeischaut, dann ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass ihr wisst, wie ich aussehe. Mein typisches Herbst-Outfit setzt sich meist aus Jeans, Pullover und Sneakers oder Stiefeln zusammen. Im Sommer seht ihr mich aber auch oft in femininen Kleidern, jedoch fast immer mit offenen, natürlichen Haaren. Heute möchte ich euch eine andere Seite von mir zeigen, sozusagen “Girly Sue”.

Letzte Woche war ich für einen Tag in Düsseldorf zur Präsentation der Spring Summer 2013 Kollektion von C&A. Cindy Crawford war auch unter den Gästen, da sie eine eigene Kollektion für C&A designt hat und war viel zierlicher als ich erwartet hätte. Nachdem uns im Showroom und bei der Fashion Show die neuen Kollektionen präsentiert wurden, konnten wir uns von der lieben Manuela (einer Fotografin aus Mannheim) in unserem Lieblingsoutfit fotografieren lassen. Das Outfit, das ich ausgewählt habe, ist zu einem Teil sehr “Sue”: ich liebe Blazer mit hochgekrempelten Ärmeln. Die Blumen-Shorts und die sehr hohen Schuhe sind dagegen mädchenhafter als man es von mir gewohnt ist. Ich fragte die Haar-Stylistin, welche Frisur sie zu meinem Look sehen würde und sie wollte gern einen französischen Zopf ausprobieren. Ich hatte in den letzten 24 Jahren meines Lebens (also noch nie!) einen französischen Zopf. Im Spiegel habe ich mich deswegen kaum wiedererkannt.

Ich mag jedoch den Kontrast von mädchenhaftem Look vor dem industriellen Hintergrund der Halle. Was meint ihr?

Die Kollektion, die mir bei C&A am besten gefiel, war “CKH Clockhouse”. Clockhouse zeigte viel Pastell und Blumenprints – nicht gerade revolutionär für das Frühjahr, aber dennoch sehr hübsch. Nach dem Klick könnt ihr nicht nur den englischen Artikel weiterlesen, sondern seht auch noch mein Outfit, als es noch im Showroom hing, einen Cardigan, der mir gut gefallen hat und Bilder mit Sarah und Julia.

C&A hat mit Eva Ziegler eine neue Brand und Marketing Direktorin, die bereits für Marken wie Coca Cola gearbeitet hat und bis vor kurzem noch in New York wohnte, weil sie Senior Vice President der Starwood Hotels (ihr kennt vielleicht die tollen W Hotels) war. Wir hatten die Möglichkeit mit Eva Ziegler zu sprechen und sie erzählte uns, dass ihr Transparenz sehr wichtig ist und das unter anderem mit dem Tageslicht durchfluteten Showroom ausdrücken wollte. Ich spüre, das C&A sich neu erfinden will und vielleicht sind sie mit Eva Ziegler da auf einem guten Weg. Wenn nur die Stores ein wenig mehr wie der hübsche Showroom aussehen würden.

If you read my blog every now and then, it is very likely that you know what I look like. My normal everyday outfit is usually composed of jeans, pullover and sneakers or boots. In summertime I love wearing dresses and dress a little more girly, but my hair is always very natural – open hair or pony tail. Today, I want to introduce you to “girly Sue”.

Last week, I was in Düsseldorf for the presentation of the C&A Spring Summer 2013 collection. Cindy Crawford, who has designed a collection for C&A, was among the guests and looked way more petite than I would have imagined. We could take a close look at the different collections in the showroom and during the fashion show and afterwards, we had a shooting in our favorite outfit with lovely photographer Manuela (who is from Mannheim, where I went to university for three years). I chose an outfit that is for one part very “Sue”: the blazer. I love wearing blazers with rolled up sleeves! The flower shorts and high heels were a little more girly than my usual outfit. Therefore, I asked the hair stylist for her opinion and she said, she would like to braid my hair. I had never had braided hair like this before, so I almost did not recognize myself in the mirror.

However, I like the contrast of the girly look and the industrial surroundings. What do you think?

My favorite collection of C&A is “CKH Clockhouse”. I liked talking to the young designers, who have so much fun creating the pieces. Clockhouse showed pastels and flowers for spring – not revolutionary, nothing new, but nevertheless pretty. After the cut, you can see my outfit hanging in the showroom, a cardigan I liked and pics with my friends Sarah and Julia.

C&A has a new brand and marketing director, Eva Ziegler, who has worked for brands like Coca Cola and has lived in New York for her last job, Senior Vice President of Starwood Hotels (you might know the beautiful W Hotels). We talked to Eva Ziegler and she told us that she wants to communicate transparency and therefore, there was also daylight in the showroom. I feel that C&A is trying to reinvent itself, which I like. Now, if the stores would only look a little more like the showroom.
