Book review: The gospel according to Coco Chanel

I love reading books and I adore fashion. Therefore, it is no surprise that I enjoyed reading “The gospel according to Coco Chanel” by Karen Karbo. I bought it at my favorite book store in New York City, “Strand” last summer. The book does not only tell us all about Coco Chanel’s life, but also shows us, how much Chanel is in everyone of us. You don’t own anything by Chanel? That is not, what I meant. If you wake up in the morning and pull out a pair of jeans and a blazer – then you are wearing a little bit of Chanel. She has enabled us to dress practically yet elegant. Reading “The gospel according to Coco Chanel” is like listening to someone telling a story. I love Karen Karbo’s writing and how she brings Coco back to life.

Ich liebe Bücher und Mode. Deshalb ist es keine große Überraschung, dass ich es sehr genossen habe, “The gospel according to Coco Chanel” von Karen Karbo zu lesen. Ich habe es in meinem liebsten Buchgeschäft “Strand” im letzen Sommer in New York City gekauft. Das Buch erzählt uns nicht nur vom Leben der Coco Chanel, sondern zeigt uns auch, wie viel Coco in jeder von uns steckt. Ihr besitzt nichts von Chanel? Das meinte ich auch nicht. Wenn ihr morgens aufsteht und einen Blazer zur Jeans kombiniert – dann tragt ihr ein wenig Coco Chanel. Sie hat es uns ermöglicht, uns praktisch und dennoch elegant zu kleiden. “The gospel according to Coco Chanel” zu lesen ist als ob einem jemand eine Geschichte erzählt. Ich liebe Karen Karbos Schreibstil und wie sie Coco Chanel wieder aufleben lässt.
